Alice Ladner was born on April 7, 1930, and was raised by Edwin and Adeline Ladner and birthmother, Alma Schaffer. She grew up in Hillsview, SD, and on a farm near Beebe, SD.
September 22, 1949, she married Gust Wiedmeier. To this union, four children were born: Dennis, Betty, Donald, and Donna. Gust passed away in August 1954.
Alice moved to Warner, SD, with her children and parents in August 1956.In December 1958 she married William Nord To this union, two children were born: Frances and Charles.
Alice was not dealt an easy life by any means. She worked very hard all her life and taught her children to do the same. She was a very honest woman and always put God and her family first. She loved animals and gardening. She was a farmer at heart and a good mechanic. She did whatever job she had to do so that she was able to provide for her family. Alice did without many of her own needs to provide for her children. She was not a boastful woman and was very proud of her family. Spending time with her siblings brought her “special” joy.
She lived in Warner for many years and then moved to Hot Springs, SD, to be near her daughter, Frances. In February 2015, Alice moved to Seven Sisters Living Center in Hot Springs and resided there for her remaining years. She loved her caregivers but couldn’t understand why there were only old people there. Dementia took quite a toll on her last years.
Grateful for having shared Alice’s life are her son, Dennis (Nancy) Wiedmeier; daughters: Betty (Gerald) Wandry, Donna Mastel, and Frances (Neil) Yager; sisters: Bernice Dickinson, Jean (Alex) Ohlhauser, Susie (Neil) Weber, Lila (Ted) Humann, and Sharon Caruso; brother, Donald (Marcie) Lammert; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Nord; son-in-law Leroy A. Mastel; brothers: Ruben H. Ladner and Larry Lammert; and sisters: Nancy Schnabel and Inez Falk.
