Daryl Stoner

The funeral service for Daryl H. Stoner, 78, of Ipswich, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ipswich. Burial will be in the Ipswich City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gramm Funeral Home in Ipswich. There will be no visitation at the church.

Daryl was born November 19, 1929 at Mina, SD. He graduated from Ipswich High School in 1948 & entered the Army in March of 1951. He was discharged in March, 1953.

Daryl married Marlene Bierman December 6, 1953 at Mansfield, SD. Into this union came 7 children. Marlene passed away October 26, 1996.

July 22, 2000 Daryl married Oleta Leyh in Central, SC. They enjoyed traveling back and forth from their winter home in Cashiers, SC to their summer home in Ipswich, SD.

Daryl lived on the family farm south of Ipswich for 63 years where he farmed and raised cattle. Pheasant season was like Christmas at the Stoner farm, where family and friends from all over the United States gathered more for the reunion than the hunting. It was Daryl's favorite time of the year.

In 2006 Daryl and Oleta moved from the farm to Ipswich where they enjoyed many days spent with family and friends.

Daryl passed away at his home in Ipswich on Sunday, October 5, 2008.

Thankful for sharing his life are his wife Oleta; his children Cinty Dosch, Dale (Doni) Stoner, Carol (Jerome) Schaffner, Terry (Mona) Stoner, Kevin Stoner, Connie (Daryl) Ertz; step-children Terese Freeze, Tamea (William) Bock and Rick (Connie) Freeze. 8 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert Stoner; 2 sisters Betty (Daniel) McCandless and Mary (Nelvin) Robuck as well as one sister-in-law, Erma Jean Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene, one son Donald, 2 brothers Paul and Jack and one sister, Virgina Yun.
