DeWayne Jeschke

The funeral service for DeWayne L. Jeschke, 68, of Roscoe, is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Roscoe. Rev. Winfried Schroeder will lead the service. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 259 will follow the church service at Morningside Cemetery under the direction of Gramm Funeral Home.

Public visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

DeWayne was born to Reuben and Golda Bernice Jeschke in Roscoe, SD on December 13, 1939. DeWayne graduated from Roscoe High School in 1957.

He then served four years in the United States Navy before returning to the area.

DeWayne married Shirley Walth on June 10, 1962 in Hosmer, SD. After their marriage they lived in Pierre for a few years before returning to Roscoe to farm. DeWayne spent 35 years driving school bus for the Roscoe and Edmunds Central School districts.

He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Roscoe and the American Legion Post 259.

DeWayne died on his farm near Roscoe on Wednesday, August 20, 2008.

DeWayne is survived by his mother, Golda Bernice Jeschke of Roscoe; his wife, Shirley, of Roscoe; his children, JoAnn (Kurtis) Kayser of Huron, Justin (and his love, Shelley Hansen) Jeschke of Roscoe, and Joleen (Dean) Schmit of Oakes, ND; five grandchildren, Kristina and Kevin Kayser of Huron and Layne, Dalton, and Roddek Schmit of Oakes, ND; two sisters, Yvonne (Harvey) Rau and Arlyce (Lew) Gimbel both of Eureka, SD.

He was preceded in death by his father Reuben Jeschke.

Casket bearers will be Ron Hoffer, Don Oswald, Paul Heier, Lou Gimbel, Harvey Rau, and Duane Haar. Carol Schroeder will serve as the organist and will sing a solo.
