Glenn Jung

The funeral service for Glenn Bruce Jung will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Hosmer. SD, with Pastor Janet Sandmeier officiating .  Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery in Hosmer following the funeral service.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, April 1, 2024, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Schriver Funeral Home, 720 N 6th Street, Ipswich, SD .

Glenn Bruce Jung was born November 25,1960, to LeRoy and Peggy (Schumacher) Jung.  He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Hosmer.  He graduated from Hosmer High School in 1979.  Following high school, Glenn worked for the railroad for a short time before returning to help on the family farm.

Glenn was united in marriage to Theresa Johnson on November 13, 1982.  They raised two children: Tyler and Jessica.  Glenn farmed 9 miles east of Hosmer and raised livestock and small and large grain crops.

Along with farming, Glenn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, dancing, and hunting.  Glenn’s greatest love was his family.  He loved watching his grandchildren play, spending time with his children and attending family gatherings.  Next to his family, Glenn loved watching his livestock grow and go to market.  He always looked forward to hunting season as many cousins and friends would come to visit.  Glenn was also known to be up for a good time and to be the life of the party.  Glenn had a smile and laugh that could brighten anyone’s day.

Glenn passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at his residence.

Those grateful for having shared his life include his wife, Theresa Jung, Roscoe, SD; his children: Tyler (Morgan) Jung, Roscoe, SD; Jessica (Kyle) Virchow, Lake Preston, SD; his father, LeRoy Jung, Roscoe, SD; two brothers: Joe (Michelle) Jung, Leola, SD, and Louie (Kati) Jung, Roscoe, SD; 4 grandchildren: Greyson and Everett Jung and Richard and Harper Virchow; and 3 nieces.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Jung, his grandparents, father-in-law, mother-in-law, one brother-in-law and many uncles and aunts.
