Sol Decker Obituary

Sol N. Decker was born to Pr. Nathan and Lena (Hofer) Decker on April 29, 1964 at Tschetter Colony near Olivet, SD. He was raised at Tschetter Colony. When he was just 4 years old his mother died. His father then married Sarah Wurtz.

He moved with his family to Pembrook Colony near Ipswich, SD when he was 10 years old. Sol married Bertha Wurtz at Pembrook on January 15, 1989. This was a happy union of 20 years.

Sol was a very kind hearted, gentle and humble man. He didn't complain even though he suffered many hard knocks in life. He loved life and all of its wonders. He enjoyed listening to his family sing. He was good natured and made friends easily.

Sol died at the age of 45 on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Rapid City Regional Hospital of complications following brain surgery. He will be missed greatly by all who loved him.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Bertha of Pembrook; three daughters, Amanda, Tara and Tanya; two sons, Jerome and Jarvis; one granddaughter, Tyra; parents Pr. Nathan and Sarah; brothers, Nathan Jr. (Liz), Mike (Betty), David (Kathryn), Paul all of Haven, MN, Luke of Starland, MN, Mark (Sally), Ruben (Susanne) Joshua (Brenda), Phillip, all of Sioux Falls, SD; 4 sisters Lena (Thomas) Decker, Maple Ridge, NY; Linda (Pr. Ronnie) Wipf, Plainview Colony, SD; Asnath (Phillip) Maendel, Baker, Manitoba; Abigail (Mervin) Stahl, Stephenfield, Manitoba; his mother-in-law, Bertha Wurtz; his extended family and friends to numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena and his father-in-law, Pete Wurtz.
